Bring On Your Dreams, Inc. now has its first woman with her family residing in Dream House #1! It is a transitional stay so that the kids do not have to change schools in the middle of the year. As you may know, the house was donated to the organization to help women in challenging life situations and it took almost 4 years to get repairs for the house to be habitable. However, unknown issues have cropped up that wasn't identified in any inspections probably because no one lived in the house for over at least 7 years. The electrical needs further updating but the most pressing is the plumbing.
This past Sunday, the family informed us that water was coming in the basement; but, it was actually sewage! We were able to get a plumber to come out yesterday. The sewer lines were snaked to no avail and now more extensive work needs to be done due to roots from a large tree growing in the sewer pipes. The plumber suspects that the roots grew more since the house sat empty for so long.
The quote for the repair is $3400 plus $200 for the work already done. They have to remove a fence and dig a 10ft hole in the ground to replace/repair the pipe as well as get rid of the roots. It needs to be completed as soon as possible because the little leeway made will last for a short while causing the woman with her family to have to be displaced again when the sewage starts backing into the basement again. Plus, it's not convenient to the family to have limit their water use but at this time its their only choice.
Fund will cover the plumbing costs. Any donation, whether $5 or $500, will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to the family that is currently residing there and to me.
